Learning about healthy lifestyles in the garden!

Our Children’s Garden Summer Class at United Church of Rogers Park provides garden education programming for neighborhood children, ranging in age from 5 to 12 years old in the spring, summer, and fall.  The daily classes incorporate garden care, arts and crafts, and lessons on nutrition and sustainability. The children find satisfaction in seeing their garden blossom under their care and get to eat the literal fruits of their labor.  The class explores a variety of topics, including how growing food can help us care for our bodies, the Earth, and our community.

Some students of our Children’s Garden Class have even connected with their own garden plots through our Yard Sharing program, where they can implement the skills they have learned in class alongside their families and neighbors.
