The United Church of Rogers Park Children’s Garden Summer Class has been cropping up with excitement in its first month. After beginning on June 20th, the program has had daily classes incorporating garden care, arts and crafts, and lessons on nutrition and sustainability.
The children, aging from 5-12 years old, have planted seeds both in their minds and in the garden, exploring how growing food can help us feed the world in a way that cares for our bodies, the Earth, and our community.
Next week we will explore how cooperation and sharing can bring us together to produce solutions to local and global issues of food insecurity. Please stop by to see, smell and taste the bounty of the garden as it becomes ready to harvest. There is one month left in the program and plenty of time to keep growing change!
